Ever thought of trying journalism? Being part of a
supportive and welcoming team of designers and budding journalists?
We need: people with enthusiasm, an interest in wellbeing
issues as well as the world at large, to contribute articles, photos, creative writing
and news and views. You will get: a friendly place to be, refreshments, a sense
of purpose and skill sharpening.
We offer a supportive and friendly space with computers and
space to work, time and backup to to write on whatever subject you like, within
a broad wellbeing brief. Members are likely to be sent on theatre or art
gallery trips to review current productions and exhibitions, sometimes to
conferences and talks. There are two professional staff members to enable,
facilitate and support. There are social events twice yearly – past events have
included picnics and singalongs.
It is a collaborative and organic space ideal for those who
would like to grow their skills, and experiment with ideas and creativity. It
is an ideal opportunity to increase your skillset: you will gain experience of
collaborative and team working, ideas sharing, writing, subbing, proofreading
and copyediting, learning through constructive feedback and a multitude of
other skills!
Members of the team have gone on to: the Open University,
volunteering posts with theatres, arts centres and parks, further study, and
part-time work among other occupations. There will be a month probation period
at the beginning of your time with us: this is to see if what we are doing will
suit you.
There are a few basic guidelines available when you start
with us, focussing on attendance and productivity. We positively welcome anyone
who wants to try their hand at writing and reviewing, choosing images and
design and having a go at marketing too.
Please get in touch with us through equilibriumteam@haringey.gov.uk
or leave a message on 020 8489 4860 and we will get back to you.
